State I'm In

For weeks now I’ve been dying to make the smallest room in the house, the laundry room, a complete and finished Pinteresty looking room. If we can get one room completely done it seems like it will make the rest of the house that much easier to tackle, albeit one room at a time. I didn’t realize that a person of the pregnant persuasion is not supposed to be painting and around paint fumes, regardless if it is latex or oil based. Needless to say, hubby has totally stepped up and stayed up until 11pm last night painting the laundry room the two colors I wanted. Because why would you want to keep it simple with just one color? We also spent a good hour in Home Depot last night getting all of the wood, screws, saw blades, and liquid nails that he would need to follow a set of plans I found on Pinterest to build a good solid stand, complete with storage, to boost up the washer and dryer. He has never built anything like this in his life, but the fact that he is so on board with continuing the project is just adorable. All in all it cost about $175 for all the materials to build the stand and from what I have been able to price out, a single stand for just one of the appliances start at $200. For one of them! So not only will the nice home made one look better (most likely) but we saved some cash and got some good old fashioned carpentry experience in the making.

Speaking of experience, I am 5 weeks along now and everything seems to be sticking for the time being. I’m beginning to get used to the constant sore boobs and the monotony of working from home and basically never leaving the house or seeing anyone that may find out that there’s a tadpole-ish thing growing around in my lady bits. Today I am watching my friend/neighbor’s 7 week old little guy while she goes to a follow up doc appointment for herself so that he doesn’t get doctor’s office germs. This should be good experience for me with an infant to try and make sure that he remains alive and happy in my care for 3 hours. After said three hours, hubby and I are supposed to be heading off to a concert for one of our favorite bands, NeedToBreathe. Yes, that’s right… no spaces. NeedToBreathe are a great band that pretty much rock an entire concert and it is always a blast to see them. Last year, the day that we signed the closing papers on the house, we actually saw them in concert that night. They make great music and always put on a great show. Oddly enough, I do have some reservations about going to the show though. It’ll be my first show ever without being able to enjoy a cocktail or two and it will be my first time out, aside from the grocery store and Home Depot, since getting confirmation I am of the pregnant variety. I’ve been so used to my life the way it has been for the last decade or so that I’m not even sure how to function with all of these restrictions that come with pregnancy. I have a little worry that things won’t be fun or that it will be somehow different in a bad way.

Anyway, in honor of going to see one of our favorite groups tonight, here’s a slice of one of their songs “State I’m In”

Bright lights they won’t leave me alone
Need a shadow or a hole in the wall
Baby I don’t know
I don’t know what kind of state I’m in
We’ve got a ways to go

Been around this whole town by now
I can’t tell you how you’re supposed to get out
Baby I don’t know
I don’t know what kind of state I’m in
We’ve got a ways to go,
