I made it back from NC no real worse for the wear and my
screeching pterodactyl was happy to see me. According to her daddy, she didn’t
even really notice I was gone. At this point, I’m going to take that as a good
sign and that she’ll grow up being used to mama traveling but always coming
home to snuggle. I always pick up a post card from my travels at the airport on
my way home so that I can send it over to my Nana to let her know that I’m
still thinking about her. She likes receiving them and actually displays them
on a ribbon board in her den.
I feel like I have to start thinking of something
creative to always bring home for Lyla after my travels but I don’t want to do
the same old cheesy t-shirts/sweatshirt, shot glass, spoon collection type
dealio. I saw a commercial recently where a father comes home from driving his
rig and always brings his little girl a small rock from the various states he’s
been and writes the state abbreviation on them in permanent marker. I may take
that idea and add to the rocks the month and year that it was brought home
since I tend to go to the same places a lot.
Hopefully this simple souvenir
will be something she looks forward to and not “stuff” in the future.
