In the weeks since I have been back from my last trip we
have had such developments! Work has been nutso, I have gained 10 pounds back
that I had lost of baby weight, Lyla has started real food, my mom came for a
visit, and it was Father’s Day. So so so much.
With work being crazy I have had a very difficult time
keeping up simply because my brains have decided to go all wonky on me. I went
to the doc two weeks ago and after a quick blood draw and some lively
conversation about life and feelings that my thyroid has decided to take a nose
dive and that is likely to blame for some of the weight gain and fuzzy brain
stuff. Having been on the correct dose now for almost two weeks, I can feel
some focus coming back and ambition returning. Fingers crossed it keeps up!
In hilarious news, Lyla has started eating “real” food. And
by real I mean that pureed baby food that can only be described by me as
nauseating. Looks the same going in as it does coming out, if ya get what I’m
sayin. I was excited to start her with fruits first and she really is not a
fan. Tossing some apples in her granola cereal seems to go over okay after a
few bites but pears and peaches she just really isn’t a fan of. She likes
bananas if you give her a real banana to suck on and turn into a sticky mess.
Jarred bananas? No thanks. So we quickly moved along to sweet carrots and sweet
potatoes and squash. This kid LOVES her veggies. I can’t shovel the stuff in
fast enough and it absolutely cracks me up and it cracked my mom up too.
This last weekend was Father’s Day and we got Daddy a bike
rack for his truck so that he can take Lyla for bike rides without getting his
bike all scratched up laying in the bed of the truck. He’s pretty excited about
it. We got to watch the rodeo from the deck again this year and even got a
small hike in. Lyla did her practicing for mutton bustin with Lily.
We all got some sun and fresh air and then he laid the
bombshell on me: we’re going camping this Friday night. Camping. Outside. With
a baby.
- · Problem #1 – Let’s just start with the obvious things you need to go camping. To camp you need somewhere to sleep, be it a camper or tent. We own neither.
- · Problem #2 – We have never camped let alone with a baby
- · Problem #3 – it is SILENT in the woods at night. Lyla sleeps with a sound machine and we sleep with fans on for noise. Translation: I will be listening for any sort of critter coming to eat us to bits.
Heaven help us.
