With slightly less than 9 weeks to go I am starting to feel
like everything is coming together… or I should probably say apart. Oh
everything is good with regards to how I am feeling with the thought of this
little girl coming to live with us forever and the impending sleep strike that
is bound to happen. But...
In other “stuff they
don’t tell you enough of” news of pregnancy, the books tell you all about
expecting low back pain and soreness and even soreness in your hips from the
ligaments stretching and your pelvis making room to have this kid make its
grand exit. What they don’t tell you enough about is the feeling like you have
been riding a bicycle for about a week straight. Or just pretend that someone
has taken that lovely speculum that they use for routine exams, turned it
sideways, and is expanding your bones. Your lady bones. You don’t feel anything out of the
normal when you are sitting down but holy smokes if you go to cross/uncross
your legs or stand up and walk. I am nearly certain that the classic pregnant
waddle comes from the soreness associated with this lovely ‘make way for baby’
movement that is occurring.
With all the soreness, I’ve taken to sleeping with a pillow
between my knees which helps but my subconscious must still be reeling over it
because I’ve had my first dream about actually delivering and seeing the baby
for the first time. In my dream, for some reason I needed to have a C-Section
and Daddy-to-be couldn't make it in time. By the time that he got there, she
had been born and I was totally in love with her and actually welling up with
tears. I was able to show him our new girl and then he started tearing up too
because he was so happy. As scary as the thought of a dream like that used to
be for me, I have to say that I woke up with relief and excitement about having
her home with us soon.
Let’s keep the good vibes coming!
