Ride or die

So the great big NYC event trip is finally over. I have to say I was still a nervous jittery mess, but I had a decent partner in crime to keep me in check. I also think that I looked fab in my dress and new heels, if I do say so myself, thankyouverymuch.

The big party event where I dolled myself up went pretty well. I had tons of people to talk to so that eased my nerves and because I was talking so much I didn’t have time to have anything but 2 drinks in the 4 hours that the party went for. The venue was amazingly beautiful and super duper fancy with a line of butlers waiting to take your coat as well as a lady in the bathroom just there to hand you the cloth towel after you washed your hands. I shouldn’t be impressed by this but I totally was. After the party we ended up heading over to this rooftop bar to meet up with some colleagues that I honestly didn’t expect to want to hang out with me, but he offered up so I figured why not. This particular colleague and his crony have decided they don’t like me for the last year or so, so I was surprised to think they actually offered to hang out with me. The crony, who hasn’t spoke to me and has called me arrogant in an email ended up yapping my ear off. It was very bizarre but I was pleasant and made sure that I didn’t act in any way as though I held a grudge.

The next day was the first day of the show and it was a LONG day of standing in the booth. I was dying to just get off my feet an into bed because I could tell that I was going to be coming down with something. It was an easy dinner with two work Engineers and then I was in bed by 10:30. The next day was a bit more of a late night. Like a 3am sort of night, but it was the last night everyone was going to be in town so we all decided to hang out. It wasn’t as though anyone got stupid drunk and was hungover the next day. All in all it was a pretty tame event for our work  crew. And that is definitely saying something.

The weather was crap, or else I would have had Gumby and Pokey photo’d in Times Square or Rockefeller Center as my hotel was within about 2 blocks of both places. They hated the cold, but they are true traveling companions and stuck it out. My ride-or-die homies.

Off to NC this week, if I can ever make my connecting flight. Every time that I am in NC, something stupid like an ungodly heat wave, tornado, or in this case blizzard occurs. They are supposed to get nearly a foot of snow, more than they have had the last 5 years combined. NC has no idea how to handle that kind of weather and nearly everything will be closed. It is highly likely that I won’t be able to get out of NC Wednesday. Here’s to a Gumby and Pokey photo op in the snow!
