We
managed to survive a week back on the east coast with family and 3 plane rides.
On the way out, Lyla had both Mama and Daddy for her first big airplane
adventures. Due to price and schedules, we were forced to book a flight with a
connection in Baltimore instead of a direct shot. Being her first time ever in
an airplane and stuck being held the entire time, I thought it would be best that
she have both her parents for this one for a little extra room. She is a pretty
independent kid in that she likes her space so having to be forced to sit/lay
in our laps was the most annoying part for her. She fussed quite a bit in the
beginning but then settled down for a good nap and before we knew it we had
finished the first of the two flights. By the time we got the rental car and
then made it to my parent’s house, it was safe to say she had had enough of any
and everything. While she was somewhat happy to see Meme and Papa, when my
brother came in and couldn’t wait to hold her she absolutely lost it.
Screaming, red face, tears – the whole shebang. So I scooped her up with her
bottle and bink and we went in the bedroom to hopefully settle down and cross
all fingers and toes that she would sleep through the night.
Meeting
the entire motley crue over the days that followed wasn't too bad. She was able
to get some naps in, show off how adorable she looks in her cute little
outfits, and had some good time with the grandparents while Mama and Daddy got
to go out with our friends. One night out until midnight, getting us home and
in bed around 12:30 when all was said and done and I still don’t think that I
have recovered. Lyla slept through the night every single night that we were
away. The direct flight home was just her and I because Daddy had to get home
earlier in the week to get back to the daily grind, and we totally lucked out
and she was able to stay in her car seat for the entire flight. Aside from the
first 45 mins or so of the flight where we played, she slept the entire time.
It was glorious.
In
the four nights that we have been back in our quiet and comfortable home, she
has managed to wake up screeching at 2:30/3:00 am for about 3 of those. On the
plus side, I can usually give her a bottle and she’ll go back down again, but
it’s no fun. No fun at all. She has decided that she has no appetite and only
consumes about 3 ounces every 4 hours and then ends up spitting up a solid
amount of what she actually did consume. She either managed to get a stomach
bug or she has decided that she hates us and is flipping the switch. Either
way, we are headed for the doctor’s office Wednesday for the big 4 month
checkup. I’ll bounce it off the doc if it doesn't get better by then.
I am
in my home office this week and next week. The following week I head for travel
with some decent companions to one of our factories. Dear husband seems to
think I will be all sorts of let loose and party when I am gone. I’m just
looking forward to non-screechy uninterrupted sleep. Glorious sleep.
