Goodbye 2015, hello 2016

It has been literally two months and an entirely new year since my last post. This was my first holiday season as a mom, and a mom to a very fast crawling rugrat at that, so to say things were hectic would be an understatement. After all was said and done we enjoyed our first winter holiday season with the crawler and I would like to say I learned a few lessons.

1. My house officially drives me crazy with being able to keep some sense of order that is to my personal domain standards. Other people's houses don't bug me, why must mine feel like a sliver you just can't seem to dig out of your foot?
2. Priorities are a real thing. While they have always been a real thing, having a family with small human who relies on you to live truly make it a defcon 5 situation.
3. Due to #2, I totally understand the struggle of career driven women to be successful in not only career but mommy and home as well. And it is a STEEP uphill battle that I hope to gain some sort hold on, or at least figure out the right tools necessary to feel equipped to tackle.

I've been thinking about some goals for 2016. I call them goals because I feel like terming these resolutions implies that if I am not successful then I suck at life. Tomato, tomahto. I get it.

For 2016, I would like to strive to be a really good example for my daughter in attitude and health. I also would like to better manage the balance between work and family and tip the scales in favor of family while trying to manage the anxiety that results. Those seem to me like two very mentally taxing goals so I have decided to cut it there. Why bite off more than you can chew? Unless it's cheese. Then totally get as much as you can.
